Getting Started
How do I set up StrideX?
When you first open StrideX, you'll go through a 4-step permission setup:
- Welcome: Learn about StrideX's features
- Health Access: Grant permission to save workouts to Apple Health
- Motion & Fitness: Enable motion sensors for activity detection
- Location Services: Allow GPS tracking for outdoor runs
All permissions are essential for optimal functionality.
What is the Cooldown Bar?
The Cooldown Bar is StrideX's revolutionary pacing system. It provides real-time visual feedback through a vertical bar that changes color and fill level based on your current activity:
- Red: Low cooldown credit - consider slowing down
- Orange: Medium cooldown credit - moderate pace
- Green: High cooldown credit - you can maintain or increase pace
Tap the "COOLDOWN" text on the bar to learn more about how it works.
Using StrideX
How does the AI learn my patterns?
StrideX uses a two-phase system:
- Calibration Phase (First 60 seconds): Analyzes your natural speed patterns to determine your personal pacing thresholds
- Adaptive Phase: Provides real-time cooldown guidance based on your calibrated parameters
After each session, StrideX learns from your actual pacing patterns to improve future recommendations.
Can I use StrideX indoors?
Yes! StrideX has an Indoor Mode that uses motion sensors and cadence detection when GPS is unavailable. Enable Indoor Mode in Settings for treadmill workouts or basement runs.
What's the difference between Run and Walk sessions?
StrideX automatically classifies your session as "Run" or "Walk" based on the percentage of time spent above 5 MPH. Each type has separate AI learning to provide optimal guidance for both running and walking activities.
Troubleshooting
GPS tracking seems inaccurate
For best GPS accuracy:
- Ensure Location Services are enabled for StrideX
- Start your workout in an open area with clear sky view
- Wait a few seconds before starting to allow GPS to acquire satellites
- Keep your phone in a consistent position (pocket, armband, or hand)
StrideX includes GPS pre-warming technology to minimize cold-start accuracy issues.
The Cooldown Bar isn't responding correctly
This may happen during your first few sessions as the AI learns your patterns. Try:
- Complete several full sessions to allow the AI to calibrate
- Reset learned data in Settings → "Reset Learned Cooldown Data" if needed
- Ensure you're moving at varied paces during workouts
App crashes or freezes
Try these steps:
- Force close the app and restart it
- Restart your iPhone
- Ensure iOS is up to date (iOS 18.0+ required)
- Check available storage space on your device
Privacy & Data
Where is my data stored?
All StrideX data is processed and stored locally on your device. We do not upload your personal information to external servers. If you enable Apple Health integration, workout data is also saved to your Apple Health app under your control.
How do I delete my data?
To delete StrideX data:
- App data: Uninstall StrideX to remove all local data
- Learned patterns: Use Settings → "Reset Learned Cooldown Data"
- Apple Health data: Manage through the Apple Health app

- iOS: 18.0 or later
- Device: iPhone (iPad not supported)
- Storage: Approximately 50 MB
- Connectivity: No internet required for core functionality
