Introduction
NewsJet ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our iOS application.
Developer: Benjamin Staab
Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information.
NewsJet is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app:
- Does not require account creation or login
- Does not collect, store, or transmit personal data
- Does not use analytics or tracking services
- Does not share any data with third parties
- Does not access your contacts, photos, or other device data
Local Data Storage
NewsJet stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Site preferences: Your configured news sources and their order
- App settings: Reader Mode, Ad Blocker, and AI Summary preferences
- Website data: Standard browser cookies and cache for news websites you visit
This data never leaves your device and can be deleted by uninstalling the app.
Third-Party Websites
NewsJet displays content from third-party news websites. When you visit these sites through the app, those websites may collect data according to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of the news sites you visit.
Our built-in ad blocker helps protect your privacy by blocking many trackers and advertisements on these websites.
AI Article Summaries
The AI Summary feature uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence). This means:
- All AI processing happens entirely on your device
- Article content is never sent to external servers for summarization
- Apple does not have access to your article content or summaries
- We have no access to your article content or summaries
Children's Privacy
NewsJet is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we do not collect any personal information from any users, this policy applies universally.
Data Security
Since we do not collect or transmit personal data, there is no risk of your personal information being compromised through our servers. All your preferences and browsing data remain on your device.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Your Rights
Since we do not collect personal information, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete. You can delete all locally stored app data by uninstalling NewsJet from your device.
